I'm Going to Rio Next Week!
I should say I'm going to Rio next week if I can get my Brazilian visa in time. I'm excited, because I just decided to fly to Rio de Janeiro next Thursday for 4 days at the Latin American X Games on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. HELLO TO ALL OF MY SKATING FRIENDS IN BRAZIL AND OTHER PARTS OF LATIN AMERICA - PLEASE MEET ME THE X GAMES NEXT WEEK!!! (I will be in Rio de Janeiro May 7-10 assuming my visa comes through on May 6, which is the day my flight leaves... nothing like cutting it close... typical Kathie Fry last minute travel planning... ) [Latin X Games] |
No Room at the Vagabond for Skaters
The empty swimming pool at the abandoned Vagabond Motel in Fresno, California has become
an internationally recognized West Coast USA aggressive skating destination, but its days as a skating hot spot will soon be over.
The motel's long-empty pool is part of a larger chunk of hotel property that will soon be demolished. Skaters from all over California descended on Fresno City Hall last month in a rally to save the pool. [Photos at Sk8ParkList.com] |

Skating Twins Break Arms on the Same DayEight year old twin girls Cassidy Wiese and Marissa Wiese both broke their left
arms on April 17 in two separate roller skating accidents that occurred within
a 5 hour timespan. Cassidy broke her arm while skating at a friend's birthday party and later that evening Marissa was demonstrating her skating skill to her mother when she fell and broke her arm. The twins were given matching blue plaster casts, with Cassidy wearing hers for 3 weeks and Marissa wearing hers for 6 weeks. The girls live in the United States in the town of Laurel, Nebraska. |
