Stefano Galliazzo of Italy and Angele Vaudan of France finished in first place at today's 31K inline race in Basel, Switzerland. The race was an official event in the World Inline Cup racing series. [Top 10 Finishers]

    Skate 50 Miles in Mexico This Weekend
    Rosarito to Ensenada Roll This Saturday an expected 10,000 cyclists will participate in a 50 mile bike ride along the coast of Mexico from the beach resort of Rosarito to the Mexican port town of Ensenada.     World Games Speed Course Inaugurated
    Yesterday the organizers of the World Games in Duisburg, Germany inaugurated the new Wedau Sports Park Speed Skating Track that was built for the World Games inline speed skating competition. The 2005 World Games will take place July 14-24 and skating events will include inline speed skating, inline hockey, and artistic roller skating.

    Skating from Rosarito to Ensenada in Mexico
    Beorn Nijenhuis Once or twice a year, a large group of cyclists ride 50 miles from Rosarito to Ensenada along the coast of Baja California Mexico. The next event is scheduled for Saturday, April 30.     Beorn Nijenhuis Today is the birthday of Dutch and Canadian ice speed skater Beorn Nijenhuis, who was born on April 2, 1984 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta Canada, and who currently lives in Groningen, Netherlands (he was born in Canada but he has dual Canadian and Dutch citizenship). Beorn was the 2002 junior all around world champion and in 2005 he finished in 5th place in the 1000 meter event at the World Single Distance Ice Speed Skating Championships in Inzell, Germany.
