If you want to make a skating t-shirt quilt,
and you have shelves and shelves of t-shirts
in your closet, you will need to decide which
of your shirts will be incorported into your
t-shirt quilt. You might want to turn your favorite
t-shirts into a quilt, or maybe the shirts
you wear least often, but you might also want to
select a group of t-shirts
with a common theme. Here are some theme ideas
for a skating t-shirt memory quilt.
Skating Championships T-Shirt Quilt
Gather up all of your t-shirts from the aggressive, artistic, speed,
or hockey work championships, or from your regional
or national championships and turn them into a
t-shirt memory quilt.
Solid Gold Skater T-Shirt Quilt
Collect all of the t-shirts for which you have won
gold, silver, or bronze medals and turn them
into a skating career memory quilt.
Inline Marathons T-Shirt Quilt
For this quilt you can use t-shirts from
one season's world inline cup marathons, or
only marathons in your own country, or only
marathons you have skated yourself,
or marathons in your favorite locations, or marathons
you would most like to skate, etc etc etc.
Skating Clubs Friendship Quilt
Contact your favorite skating clubs in
your country or around the world,
purchase their t-shirts (usually it is
possible) and turn them into a skating
club friendship quilt that will make you
feel happy every time you use it and
remember your friends in all of those clubs.
Single Event Skating T-Shirt Quilt
This quilt is a special way to commemorate
a 10th or 15th or 20th anniversary of your
favorite event, because you can use (for example)
10 years of Summer X Games t-shirts or 20 years
of Athens to Atlanta t-shirts for your quilt.
A quilt like this would also make a wonderful
event annivesary gift for the organizer of
an event.
Single Country Skating T-Shirt Quilt
For this t-shirt quilt you can use
shirts from events in only one country, or
you can make a quilt from a variety of different
kinds of t-shirts related to skating in only one country,
for example t-shirts from skate shops, skate manufacturers,
clubs, and pro skaters from the country of your choice.
International World of Skating Quilt
I would love to make a quilt out of skating t-shirts
from countries I have visited. They could be shirts
from skating clubs, federations, events, shops or anything
else, as long as they reminded me of the places I have
traveled with my skates. I would fall asleep every night
hugging that quilt and thinking about my wonderful skating
friends and adventures all over the world!

Pro Skater T-Shirt Quilt
This quilt can be made using the t-shirts of
favorite NFL, speed skating, aggressive skating,
roller derby, or other pro teams or skaters.
Skating Workshop or Camp T-Shirt Quilts
For this quilt you can use t-shirts from
all of the speed skating workshops you have
attended or your favorite aggressive skating
or roller hockey clinics or summer camps.
Off-Beat Skating T-Shirts Quilt
I like the idea of making a quilt out of
the most unusual skating t-shirts you
can find, perhaps with sayings like
"skate or die" or "it's only roller skating
but I like it" or maybe from the Los Angeles
area "Skate Like Hell" event or from the
Cheesehead Invitational in Wisconsin.
Or how about an entire quilt made out of
t-shirts from the different all-girl roller
derby leagues. Now that would be fun!
Skating Venue T-Shirt Quilts
For this quilt you can use t-shirts
from olympic ice speed skating ovals,
or aggressive skate parks, or vintage
roller skating rinks, or famous
skating areas like Venice Beach in
California, or Miami in Florida, or
Central Park in New York City, or
Paris, or Amsterdam, or Berlin,
or Frankfurt (I don't want to leave anybody
out but this list could go on forever!)
