The 5th African Speed Championships was an exciting function.
The event took place in Nairobi, Kenya on Harambee Avenue,
one of the main thoroughfares in that city.
The racing distances included were 300 meters, 1500
meters, 5000 meters, and a 21 kilometer half marathon.

The opening and closing ceremonies included live
performances by the Kenya Prison Band playing the
Kenya National Anthem.
The organizers were very pleased with the number of
sponsors, press representatives, and visitors who
supported and attended the event.
Important dignitaries included
the chairman of the Kenya National Sport Council,
the Kenya Deputy Commissioner of Sports,
two international referees,
the president of the Egyptian Roller Sports Federation,
Dr. Nabih El-AlkaMy, president of the African
Confederation of Roller Sport (ACSRS),
Dr. Nelly, Ramzy, general secretary of the ACSRS,
and many others.
