Jeju Island off the South Coast of Korea has its own skating club
with more than 130 local members.
The name of the club is INIA ("Inline Skate Mania") and
club members gather every evening to practice their skating skills
and nearly every weekend they get together for fun rolls and
workout skates on different parts of their beautiful island.
In 2002 the members of the INIA club organized 13 hour 193 kilometer
road skate which took place partly at night. Once a month,
the members of the club meet for mountain bike cross training
in the Halla Volcano Forest on Jeju Island.
When you are planning a trip to Korea or another part of Asia,
be sure to allocate some time to visit Jeju Island and
skate with the the INIA club. They love to have visitors and they work
closely with a local tour operator to arrange special skate
tours of Jeju (contact Victor Ryashencev at
activejeju@hotmail.com for more information about
Jeju Island Skate Tours). For more information about skating
on Jeju Island see
"Skating on a Korean Island".
