Skating from Vilnius to Kaunas in Lithuania

On Sunday, June 9, 2002, twelve skaters in Lithuania skated 110 kilometers, from Vilnius to Kaunas, in 4 hours and 23 minutes, including one 6 minute break. The skate was covered by Lithuanian newspapers, radio, and television, and the participants managed to break all previous speed records for skating between the two cities. The skate began in the center of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and finished in the center of Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania. The oldest skater was 58 years of age and 9 out of the 12 participants wore Salomon Vitesse 5 wheel skates.
