ROLLER SKATING IN MAURITIUS
Article by Darek Cwiklak with photos by Piotr Ciupinski
There is a roller-life on Mauritius,
at least there was for one week in September and October
of 2004.
I went there with my friend and did some skating on the North Coast,
in a marina resort near Grande Baie. We did 15 kilometer runs
almost every day for a week, rolling mostly on the roads there.
People seemed to see the gear for the first time in their lives:
"C'est bon sport!", "La grand vitesse!" was what we usually heard.
And that look saying: "wow, it's incredible, how the hell are they
doing that?" :)
I don't know if roller skates can be bought in Mauritius. We brought our
own gear. But it was fun. The roads there are rolling and the ups and
downs were almost ideal for skating. The weather was incredible too
because in September and October their is typically
low humidity and air temperatures of 24-28 Celsius in Mauritius.
You need nothing more to be happy :)
