About the Event
For the past few years, Bicycling West in San Diego California has organized
twice-a-year bicycle rides, from Rosarito to Ensenada, Mexico. Sometimes a few
skaters tag along on this ride, even though it is a tough skate, with plenty of
hills to climb. These rides are large events, with 8,000 to 15,000 cyclists.
FROM THE EVENT ORGANIZERS:
"Cyclists cruise south along the rugged Baja California, Mexico coast line on the free road (Mexico 1) beside the beautiful
Pacific Ocean for 22 miles of small rolling hills. The route turns east heading inland for two miles through rural countryside
before the course turns south again for a 2 mile climb up El Tigre or what many just call 'THE HILL'. Once atop the
mesa, the ride continues south over rolling hills for 8 miles, then drops 8 miles downhill for the final 8 flat miles along the
ocean to the finish line just outside of Ensenada. Then, it is just another mile into town to the Fiesta and a well deserved
rest.
The cars go on the Federal Toll Road from Rosarito to Ensenada where your friends and family will be waiting to greet
you at the Fiesta in Ensenada."
