Sosnovyi Bor Up/Downhill Contest

The Event
Last month, fifty skaters from all
over Russia gathered near St. Petersburg for a
spectacular uphill and downhill inline skating
competition:
The Sosnovyi Bor Up/Downhill Contest.

The event was organized by the Roller
Sports Federations of Russia and St. Petersburg, and
by the Roller.Ru
Skating Club (http://www.roller.ru/).
It was the first downhill competition ever held in Russia.
The Trail
The contest was held on a beautiful biathlon trail
in a pine forest near the Baltic Sea, in Sosnovyi Bor.
The trail is a lap 1.6 km in length, and some of it's features are:

The Skaters
About 50 skaters from Sosnovyi Bor,
St. Petersburg, and Moscow
participated in the event, and
they were split into three
categories: men, women, and children up to age 14.

2001 Event
All of the skaters and organizers were super-satisfied with
the trail and the slopes. The event was so successful,
the organizers plan to
make it an international event in 2001, and invite
participants from all over the world.
