Chinese Taipei Wins Gold at Asian Championships
June 11-16, 2004 in Akita, Japan
|
On June 18, 2004 the Republic of China Roller Skating
Association made this announcement:
The Republic of China Amateur Roller
Skating Association announced in June of 2004 that the Chinese Taipei Team
won 10 gold, 10 silver and six bronze medals at the 10th Asian
Roller Skating Championship held June 11-16 in Akita, Japan.
The 10th Asian Roller Skating Championship, which was originally
planned for 2003, was postponed until this year due to the severe
acute respiratory syndrome outbreaks in several countries last year.
Facing strong competition from mainland China, South Korea and
Japan, Chinese Taipei still managed to win 10 golds, 10 bronzes and
six silvers, the exact same medal tally it garnered in 1999 and 2001.
In figure skating, the team collected five golds out of a
total of seven for figure
skating, its best performance in the last decade.
The Chinese Taipei Team also won the first place for its overall
performance at
the biannual event, the team's third consecutive win since 1999.
