Tony Knowles Coastal Trail
The Tony Knowles trail is an 11 mile paved trail
that curves along the Anchorage, Alaska coastline.
The entire trail is paved, and it is relatively
flat. Part of the trail runs along the tracks
the Alaska Railroad and part of it runs along
the Anchorage Airport.
During the warm months the trail is used by
cyclists, skaters, hikers, and joggers, and during the
cold months it is used by cross-country skiers.
The trail has several scenic rest areas with
beautiful views of Knik Arm, Cook Inlet, Mount McKinley,
Mount Susitna, the Mount Spurr volcano, and Mount Redoubt.
The trails begins at 2nd Avenue in Anchorage, just west
of Christensen Drive. There are also trail access points
at at Westchester Lagoon, Point Woronzof, and Kincaid Park.
