2005 California Gravity Racing Series
First Event in the Series: January 16, 2005

In 2005 there will be a gravity sports racing series in California for downhill inline skaters, skateboarders, street luge, classic luge, and gravity bikes. The event will take place at a new venue in 2005: Frank G. Bonelli Park in San Dimas.

Westwood Ski and Sports Club and the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) are pleased to announce the start of the 2005 California Championship gravity racing series at our new racing venue in Frank G. Bonelli Park in San Dimas on Sunday, January 16, 2004.

This first date will include racing for downhill skateboard, inline downhill, classic luge (buttboard), street luge, and gravity bikes (with help from GBA). It will also include slalom practice in anticipation of adding slalom racing on the second series date. All races will count towards the IGSA world rankings. There will be a variety of awards and prizes at each race, and at the end of the series there will be special series awards for the top point-getters (dropping each racer's worst result in each discipline, for disciplines with more than 2 races). Sponsors include Kryptonics wheels, Bones Bearings, and 3dm wheels.

Each of the dates will have racing for several sports and practice available at a reduced price for the sports not competing on that date. The events will take place rain or shine, but if it rains the schedules may change (for example a tight slalom might be postponed for rain, but luge would race in the rain).

Schedule for the 1st Event - January 16, 2005

Also, the first few who come early to help with the street cleaning and setup in the morning (or teardown at the end) will receive a free race entry!

    Manufacturers and Shop Owners
It's not too late to supply prizes for these races! You can even just show up with something to add to the prize pool, and bring your banner to hang. We'll be sure to mention you in upcoming announcements.

    Protective Gear
IGSA equipment rules will be used. For slalom and giant slalom this means helmets, pads (elbow and knee), and hand protection (gloves and/or wrist guards) are required, and hip pads are recommended. Please, no short shorts or tank tops. For street luge, buttboard, gravity bikes, and downhill skateboard and inline, helmets, leathers, and leather gloves are required. We're building an equipment pool to loan to new riders and people who forget things, please donate your old gear, it may save someone a long trip home!

    Venue Descriptions and Directions:
FRANK G. BONELLI PARK is in San Dimas, CA off of the 57 freeway between the 10 and the 210. Exit the 57 at Via Verde, and head east into the park (a parking fee will be charged at the gate). Continue on Via Verde to the race course.

WEST LOS ANGELES COLLEGE is located in Culver City near the 405 and 10 freeways, 2 signals southeast of Jefferson and Overland, at 9000 Overland Avenue. Enter from Freshman Drive through the first open gate (Albert Vera Street) into campus. There's a big parking lot for warming up, a gentle hill for beginners and tight slalom, the main slalom hill (up to 10 percent grade), and the luge and bike hill (C Street, over 10 percent grade, steep!).
