During the World War II, Douglas Aircraft hired roller skating messenger girls to deliver interdepartmental communications at their aircraft manufacturing plant in El Segundo, California. This photo was taken sometime between 1942 and 1945 and it is part of the United States Office of War Information photograph collection. Image was reprinted on this Web site with permission from the United States Library of Congress.
