Harris Was Fastest After All
This article in the Long Beach Press Telegram is a correction and
update of the article below. This article explains that 11
year
Alexandra Harris was briefly disqualified for starting
with the men, but reinstated after head timer James Read
determined that Harris actually crossed the start
line 3.48 seconds after her wave officially started, so she did
NOT have an illegal start.

Martinez Waits, Then Wins Women's Race
This article in the Long Beach Press Telegram
reported that a handful of race spectators approached race officials
and alleged that
Kelly Martinez cross drafted with the pro
men which is not permitted in the pro category.
According to the article, race official Toby Taylor
spoke with all parties, examined the race video tape,
and concluded that Kelly was not guilty of cross drafting.
The article also reported that 11 year old
Alexandra Harris - who had the fastest
race time overall - was disqualified for
starting with the men instead of with the women,
an allegation that was later proven to be untrue.
