In October of 2000, 12 volunteers skated 450 miles,
from San Francisco to Los Angeles, in a rolling, anti-violence,
relay skate and publicity campaign, designed to raise awareness of the
positive influence skating can have on the lives of young
people and adults, giving them a fun and healthy alternative
to participating in street and domestic violence. The 12 skaters
left San Francisco on Monday, October 15, and arrived in Los Angeles
on Thursday, October 19. On October 20, they joined skaters from Los
Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Huntington Beach, and other
Southern California cities at the
Santa Monica Friday Night Skate. Here are some photos
from that night.
