(June 18, 2003) - Over 1500 inline skating enthusiasts from around the world descended upon Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in March 2003 to compete and experience the inaugural Walt Disney World Inline Marathon. Inline Marathon - May 2, 2004 Disney Sports Attractions has announced May 2 as the date for the 2004 event and has increased the field to 2,000 participants. During that time, the Walt Disney World Resort will prepare for the skating enthusiasts to "skate around the world" through the Disney-MGM Studios, Epcot, Disney’s Boardwalk Resort and Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. Registration Begins August 2003 Registration for the inaugural Walt Disney World Inline Marathon is anticipated to begin in early August 2003 at DisneyWorldSports.com. An announcement will be made once the registration date, registration prices and event travel package information are determined. Fitness Expo - May 1, 2004 In addition to the race weekend, a skate and fitness expo will take place on Saturday, May 1 at the Milk House at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. On that day, skaters will be able to pick up their race packets and peruse the Expo floor as representatives from the skate and fitness industry will be available to answer questions, and exhibit the latest inline skating products and services. All Star Kids Classic - May 1, 2004 The race weekend will also feature the All Star Kids Classic on Saturday, May 1. An inline race for children, the races will comprise a 100-meter dash (ages 3-6), 400-meter dash (ages 7-9) and 1600-meter dash (ages 10-12). An announcement will be made once the registration date and price are determined.
