Inline Skating In the Oklahoma City Area
Part 1 of 6
|
by Roger E. Meadows
Oklahoma City is very fortunate to have many,
great inline skate paths located throughout the
City and State. The majority of skaters use the
Lake Hefner Trails complex located in the northwest
part of Oklahoma City. This is a 9.5 mile path of
mostly smooth asphalt around Lake Hefner. The path
is full of fitness fanatics on weekends consisting
of cyclists, runners, walkers, windsurfers, kite
surfers, and of course inline skaters. The path
has water stops and restroom facilities located
around the perimeter of the lake.
The trails are to be expanded by the end of the summer of 2004.
The expansion includes connecting the Lake Hefner Trails to the
Lake Overholser Trails resulting in an overall length of
approximately 25 miles.
