SOME ARRIVED AT CAMP WITH WORRIES:
"Am I crazy? Can I really do this?" On the first day
of camp, many of those fears were set to rest as the
group shared introductions in a shady breezeway at
the tony
Sea Pines Plantation’s Welcome Center.
"This trip was just so much more fun than I ever imagined it
could be. I loved the guides and I think I really did learn
a lot and got to meet a lot of really neat people. I would
recommend this trip to anyone. Good job guys and thanks a million."

TWO HOURS LATER,
all were at the Bristol Sports Arena
- a beautiful outdoor hockey rink -- for their first
lesson which covered gearing up, injury prevention,
how to fall properly (really!) and the easiest way
to get up from the ground.
The session also had everyone
walking in their skates on the grass while quacking,
in preparation for the learning the beginner
stride - aptly named the "duck walk". The final hour
at the rink was spent practicing the heel brake stance
and stop, which
Tammy ,
Janet and most others agreed was
THE key skill they needed to enjoy skating.
At the end of the session, instructors Liz and Kris
pointed out how much everyone had progressed already
in such a short time. "Wow, you’re right!" marveled
Mark. "I can’t believe we’re all this comfortable in
our skates already!"
