Meaghan Flaherty Was Killed While Skating
Struck by a Car on June 9, 2004

A skater in the Boston area of the Eastern United States
was killed in June 2004 when she was struck by and
pulled underneath a car.
United States skater Meaghan Flaherty of Massachusetts
was killed on Wednesday June 9, 2004 when
she was struck by and dragged under a Ford Taurus automobile while
skating at night on Washington Street in the town of Braintree,
near Boston.
Bystanders rushed to lift the car off of Meghan, but she was pronounced dead
when she arrived at nearby South Shore hospital.
A man skating with her was also injuried, but his injuries
were not life-threatening. The driver of the car was
18 year old Mary Ann Vernier. It is not known if
Meghan was wearing a helmet when she died.
