Teresa Buick Died After a Skating Fall
August 2003 in Calgary Canada
|
43 year old Teresa Buick of Calgary Canada
died on August 7, 2003 a few days after suffering
a head injury during a skating fall.
Earlier in the week she had been
been inline skating at South Glenmore park
when she fell backwards and hit her head. She wasn't
wearing a helmet and suffered severe head trauma,
which caused her death a few days later.
Teresa's husband Jeff admits that a helmet might have
saved her life, and he does not
want other families to suffer a similar loss.
"Helmets save lives" and that's the message he
and his family hope others will hear.
From Jeff Buick: "She was just absolutely loved by so many
people and is not with us anymore for something as silly as
a fifty dollar helmet, we made a mistake and I just hope
that other people don't do it.
Jeff is working with the Calgary Police and
Alberta Children's Hospital to become a spokesperson for
helmet safety.
