Alternative 11 City Race in Japan

4TH ALTERNATIVE 11 CITIES ICE TOUR
LAKE AKAN - HOKKAIDO - JAPAN

A group of skaters in California is planning a trip to Hokkaido, Japan to participate in the "Alternative 11 City Race 2003". Ice speed skating events will be held February 15-23, 2003. The main event is a 200km marathon on a 25km course atop the ice of Lake Akan on Saturday February 22. Arrangements will be made for group discounts on accommodations and local transportation while staying in Hokkaido.

14:00 Opening Race - 42.195 KM
Sunday February 16 2003
10:00 EKIDEN Championship
- 5 person team relays
- Elementary School Class - 5KMx3, 10KMx2
- Junior High Class - 5KMx2, 10KMx3
- Adult Class - 10KMx5
Monday Feb 17 - Thursday Feb 20
09:00-16:00 Free Practice
Friday February 21
13:00 TimeTrial - 5km
Saturday February 22
07:00 Marathon - Tour
- 200km, 100km, 50km or 25km
09:00 Marathon - Competition
- 200km, 100km or 25km

19:30 Farewell Party and Awards Ceremony
- Price money for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place
- Medallions and certificates to finishers
Sunday February 23
08:00 Straight Sprint - 500m
14:00 Family Marathon - 5km
