How to Skate Backwards

Tutorials, tips, and articles explaining how to skate backwards on inline skates, quad roller skates, and ice skates. Most of the tutorials on this page teach the swizzle or sculling method of learning to skate backwards, but Richard Humphrey's video uses a very different technique for teaching backwards skating.

Richard Humphrey's 5th roller dance video "Backwards Skating At Its Best" was released in 2002. The video is 45 minutes long and it includes 15 different backwards skating techniques and dance moves. The video also includes Richard's own special (and very unusual) method for teaching how to skate backwards.
