Free Skating Lessons in North America
March through June of 2003
|
Free inline skating lessons will be available all over North America
between March and June of 2003. Four skating instructors, from different
parts of the United States, have joined forces to head up a new initiative
intended to re-energize the sport of inline skating in North America by
(1) spreading the word that inline skating is fun, and (2) helping people get past
the initial learning curve by encouraging instructors all over North America
to join the program and offer free introductory skating lessons during a
4-month period in the Spring of 2003.
The people behind this new initiative are:
How Certified Instructors Can Join the Program
Instructors certified by the International Inline Skating
Association who would like to join the program by offering free
lessons, should send email to
info@freeskatelesson.com
and ask how they can be added to the database of instructors
who are offering free lessons.
How to Sign Up for a Free Lesson
The free skating lessons will be at least 45 minutes in length and
they will be given by an instructor certified by the International Inline
Skating Association. For more information, or to sign up for free lesson,
connect to
FreeSkateLesson.com. After you fill out an online Free Lesson Registration
Form, you will receive a certificate number via email that
will entitle you to receive one free inline skating lesson. You will also be
given access to a list of instructors who have signed up to participate in the
program.
What to Expect at Your First Skating Lesson
A typical first lesson will teach you how to
skate and how to turn, but the most important things you will learn
are how to balance your weight properly to avoid falling, how to
fall safely, how to get up off the ground after a fall,
and how to use the
friction heel brake that is installed on most fitness
and recreational inline skates. To get a better idea of what
