Conference that will take place in conjunction with the Long

USSG TO OFFER INSTRUCTOR EXAMINATION PROGRAM
EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER OF 2005
MARCH 29, 2005 - EL SEGUNDO, CALIORNIA: The United Skate Schools Group
(ussg) has completed the second phase of developments which include an
Instructor Examination Program (IEP), expanded Membership options, and a
2005 educational conference.
Since its inception in January, the ussg has developed an instructor
examination (IE) to fill the immediate need for an instructor training
and testing program, to better the standard for skate instruction, to
help reduce the instructors' personal liability, and to support all
instructors in a new era of skate education. The one-day IE will be
available on both the east and west coasts with the first test schedule
for May 14th in California. Upon successful completion instructors
will receive membership and individual instructor or skate school
insurance. Candidates can choose from Individual Instructor membership
and Skate School membership. In addition the ussg offers an Associate
membership for non-instructor skate enthusiasts. The test currently
targets inline/roller skating and will include skateboarding in the
next phase of development. The ussg Instructor Exam-Qualifier (IE-Q),
a written-only exam, has been developed to serve former IISA-ICP
instructors in 2005.
The ussg was created out of a need for a community where instructors and
skate school owners could come together to share ideas, to learn, and to
grow. ussg aims to create a standard of professionalism and recognition
so that not only will opportunities in instruction increase but also the
business of Skate School ownership will build out of shared knowledge and
mutual respect.
The ussg has assembled Strategic Advisors to help provide ideas, support
and vision. The group consists of professionals Bettina Bigelow, Debbie
Sumner, Krista Heubush, Janet Miller Sheehan, Dean Kaese, Bertie Demps,
Kris Simeone, and Heather Lacayo. Fitness, ski and skate industries pioneer,
Suzanne Nottingham, was recently added to the team. "We are fortunate to
have Suzanne volunteer as an advisor," says ussg founder Janet Miller Sheehan,
"Her expertise in instructor examination and of sports organizations adds
even more talent behind the ussg and the instructor exam program." This
team of very dedicated professionals has invested years of hard work and
countless hours toward skate education. Combined, the advisors have over
100 years of experience in the skate industry. The ussg Strategic Advisors
are determined to see that skate education continues to improve and that
the business of skate school ownership prospers.
The ussg will hold an Inaugural Educational Conference on Saturday,
October 15th at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach in conjunction with the
Long Beach International Marathon Expo. "We are very excited to work
with the ussg to bring more skaters to Long Beach", says Michael Schaefer,
2005 LBIM Director of Inline Events, "Their professionalism and dedication
is welcomed as we combine our efforts for a successful weekend in October."
Prior to the Saturday conference, the ussg will offer the IE on Friday,
October 14th.
