HOW TO USE A TOILET ON SKATES
Do you remove your skates before using the facilities
on your local bike path? Did you know you can use
"toilet positions" to practice your skating? Here
is a priceless cartoon and two interesting articles.
POWERSLIDE ENTERS THE SPEED BOOT MARKET
I met Powerslide founder Matthias Knoll of Germany at
2002 Speed Worlds in Belgium, and I was surprised to
learn Powerslide now has their own line of speed boots
and they are developing a large line of frames and
other racing products.
ERIK JAN SPIJKERMAN - SEXIEST SKATER ALIVE?
12 exciting photos of Erik Jan Spijkerman, member of
the Dutch National Inline Speed Skating Team. The
pictures were taken by professional sports photographer

A Note from Kathie
IF YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR ME...
If you are waiting for me to respond to your email,
or for me to post some news or an article you sent me,
please accept my apology if I have not done it yet.
This has been an incredibly busy month! I know I
missed quite a few messages because they were buried
under hundreds of other messages in my inbox. Please
feel free to resend any message I have not replied to.
I really do want to (and try to) answer all of my email.
MY ARTICLE IN FASST MAGAZINE - RUSSIA!
I'm waiting with great anticipation for the next issue
of Fitness and Speed Skating Times because they are
publishing an article I wrote about skating in Russia,
with many photos and lots of information.
FaSST always does such a beautiful job of laying out
my articles, and I can't wait to see what they have
done with this one. For more information about FaSST
Magazine see their Web site at
http://www.fasst.com
SKATEGRRL IS OUTGROWING SKATEGRRL
The information and photos on SkateGRRL.com are
outgrowing the space I have on my server, and rather
than adding more disk space I have decided to split
SkateGRRL.com into three different Web sites:
SkateGRRL.com
I will keep this site going as a link directory and my
personal home page. Right now SkateGRRL.com has about
2000 pages of skating links and information. I will keep
the link directory pages where they are, but I will
gradually move my articles, photos, and news to another
Web site.
SkateLog.com
This will be the new home of the articles, news, and
photo layouts I previously published on SkateGRRL.com.
The two sites will be very different, because SkateGRRL
will be mostly a link directory and SkateLog will be
articles, announcements, news, and photos by me and
guest authors who want to contribute to the site (guest
authors will retain the copyright to their articles and photos and they
can ask me to remove them from my site at any time)
AskAboutSkating.com
This will be the message board for SkateGRRL.com and
SkateLog.com as soon as I can decide which bulletin board
software to use. If you can recommend any particular package
send a note to me at kathie@skategrrl.com (I can use either
Unix or Windows packages). I'm thinking about MAYBE having
sub-boards here for inline, quad, ice, and skateboarding.
InlineSkating.about.com
I will continue to host and edit About.com's inline
skating Web site as long as they want me to do it.
Articles on this site will tend to be product-related
and short "what you need to know" pieces, because
that is what About.com says their visitors want to see.
You will encounter pop-up ads at About.com but even so,
this site gets a huge number of page views per day. Note
that this site does not belong to me, it belongs to About.com.
I only work for them as a private contractor. I appreciate
having this job because it pays me enough to travel to
skating events all over the world (contrary to a common
rumor, I am definitely not independently wealthy...)
