In 2003 the "Shakespeare Santa Cruz" theater company in Northern California

inline skates, push scooters, bicycles,
and electric scooters as one of the means of
differentiating the classes. For photos from

That production was especially entertaining to
the local residents because it included quite a few
references to local landmarks such as
the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the Mystery Spot
in the mountains behind Santa Cruz.
The servants wear aggressive skater
type clothing includin reverse baseball
caps, and they say things like
"No, man, I didn't use to surf, but now
I totally do, man."
Upper middle class cast members ride bicycles
and a wealthy merchant rides an fancy electric
bike.
The "Shakespeare Santa Cruz" festival has been
held ever year since 1982 in the seaside Northern
California town known for it's population of
surfer dudes and "hippy's in a time warp"
that is also a charming and lovely beachside town
with a fantastic beach boardwalk amusement park.
