Roller skating in theater productions including
musicals and plays.
Starlight Express
All of the actors in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical "Starlight Express"
wear quad roller skates throughout the entire production. In the 2004
North American Tour version of the musical there is a half-pipe on the
stage and the racing scenes are done as a 3D movie projected onto a giant screen.
Hans Brinker on Inline Skates
Thank you so much to the Playhouse Jr. Children's Theater in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania for sharing these photos of their production of the
"Hans Brinker Silver Skates" story that uses inline skates on stage
to represent ice skates (play runs March 13 through April 4).
Shakespeare on Wheels
In the summer of 2003 the Santa Cruz Shakespeare Company
staged a performance of
the William Skatespeare play "Comedy of Errors" that used
inline skates, push scooters, bicycles, and electric scooters
as a means of differentiating the classes.
