Week 4 - Five Miles on Sore Feet
May 15 - May 21, 2004
I got my skate from InlineSports.com. My order got messed up.
I ordered Salomon Elite 2002 model, men size 8 (my feet are wide).
They sent me 2003 model, women size 8. The nice part is that with
a lower price I got newer model. I put on my skate and skate around
the house. It seems great. I am going to ride on my new skate.
As I used my new skate, my left foot got swolen near the heel area.
I know that it is normal to get blisters when using new skate.
But there is something else in my case. The first day on my new
skate, my feet are hurt after 20 minute ride. I tried to ignore
it and continue my practice for an hour. My left feet are really
hurt. I don't know wether the skate is tight or my balance is on
the inside edg or maybe both. I continued to use the skate hoping
that the pain will go away as my feet get used to it. I skate for
1 hour 15 minutes every day. I was able to skate for longer distance.
For the first time, I finished 5 miles on Tuesday May 18.
But the pains did not go away, my feet are hurt so bad....
why? why? why?....here are the reasons that I can think of:
Salomon makes the heel much narrow in women zise skate
My left foot is larger than my right foot.
I skate in an wrong position....
I continue my practice using the old skates. I had a great,
nice ride on Wednesday. At this point, I am so ready to return
to skate school to learn more skills and seek for advice on my new skate.
