I agree with what most people say about the Triax/quad,
PIC/ice skate issues. Most everyone I know who has quad
experience is very happy on the Triax. Same goes for the
ice skaters and PIC skates. From someone who doesn't have
either kind of experience, but strictly in-line, I can vouch
for the fact that the PIC Skate is wonderfully fun, but it
did take some adjustment from Rollerblades. I actually tried
a pair of Triax, before I tried PIC skates, and I think I
wore them for all of 45 minutes before going back to regular
in-lines. When I tried the Pic skate, I was much more
comfortable and familiar with the feel, but I did have
to relearn some of what I considered to be "bad habits".
I didn't realize that I was simply readjusting my center
and learning about edges.
There are two things I can't do on PIC Skates that I would
like to be able to: Flying Camels and Sit Spins. I have read
Jo Ann Schneider Farris's, and even though she warns that
the Flying Camel is one of the more difficult moves to master
on PIC Skates, I've heard it can be done. I am wondering now
if I should make the transition to ice skating just so I can
get some experience, and then perhaps my muscle memory will
take over. (I'll confess, I actually did try ice skating a
while back. I used some of the horrid rental skates that
really don't give a fair evaluation of what ice skating
feels like, but it was just so.....slippery!)
