Ryan Cox Broke His Back
February 17, 2004

On February 17, 2004, Ryan Cox of Georgia broke his back during a bad fall at an ice speed skating practice in Southern California. He was immediately rushed to Long Beach Memorial Hospital where it was determined that he had broken 5 vertabrae in his back.

The good news is that there was no spinal cord damage and Ryan is not expected to require any surgery. It can often take 6 months to a year for this type of injury to heal but Ryan was out of his hospital bed and walking within 6 days of his fall and he is expected to fully recover and be back on skates again in record time.
