Future Plans

Kathie: You grew up in the United States and Gary grew up in Australia. Have you decided where you will have your permanent home?

Theresa: We havenit yet decided where we will live. Itis a tough decision with family and friends in both countries. Right now it doesnit matter because with us both traveling for the WIC we donit see either of our families anyway. We dream of having a house in both countries.

Kathie: You have won so many world championship titles and now you are a new bride. Do you plan to keep skating in the future?

Theresa: My future plans are to skate this last year in the WIC then go into cycling. Iim not sure if I will compete or just ride for fun...I will just ride at first and see where it takes me. I would love to be in the Olympics but Iim getting pretty tired of killing myself training, Iive been doing it since I was 3. My real goal and priority is to get a house and be able to live at home... not from a suitcase. I would also like to finish college... no one from my family has ever gone to college.

Kathie: How about Gary. Does he plan to continue skating in the future?

Theresa: For Gary he has been going to the World Championships since 1996 and although he has been one of the most consistent sprinters averaging top 5-6 every year he is also retiring from the World Championships with the dream of going to track cycling. He would hope to stay in skating in some capacity to give back to the sport but is also driven to succeed in business and also able to settle down and buy a house.

Kathie: OK now I'm going to get a bit personal and you can answer or not - your choice of course. How about kids? Do you and Gary want a houseful of them or none at all?

Theresa: Gary would be happy with 2 super babies. But I grew up in a Day Care, my mom owns and runs her day care in her home. I love kids and would like a big family. I would like 4-5 but I think we are running out of time if we plan on cycling and the Olympics and everything else. But we definitely want kids…. the question is how many??
