| Quad Roller Skates |

Quad roller skates are the traditional type of roller skates that were the most common type of skate before inline skates were invented. Quad roller skates are still the most common type of skate used for artistic competition and probably still the most common for outdoor roller dancing as well. Quads are also more popular than inline skates playing roller hockey in many parts of Europe and South America. They are also occasionally used for speed, and fitness skating, but this is less common because inline skates are more suitable for those skating styles. Recreational skating is usually done on inline skates these days, but there is no reason quads cannot be used for social and recreational skating.
