Kitada Wins the Gold
On Saturday, December 9, Ken Kitada from Osaka, Japan,
took first place in the inline park competition at the Toyota
sponsored Asian X Games in Phuket, Thailand.
Kitada managed to win the gold, even though he
was competing with an elite group of Asian skaters,
including
Takeshi Yasutoko and Chiaki Ito from Japan,
and Thailand's
Jeerasak Tassorn, who won the Asian X Games in 1999.
Winning first place at the Asian X Games, means Kitada will be traveling to the
United States next summer for the 2001 X Games
in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Jeerasak Tassorn of Thailand, who represented
Asia and placed 5th at the 2000 World X Games in San Francisco, placed 6th in this
competition.
Sam Fogarty of Australia place 2nd, and 14 year old Soichiro Kanashima
of Japan placed 3rd.
