Snowmass Village, Colo. / Snowboard SuperPipe
From Snowmass Village, Colo., Gretchen is of the next wave of women’s pipe riders. Ready to compete again at her home resort, this 20-year-old placed eighth at Winter X Games VI.
Torah Bright
Cama, Australia / Snowboard Slopestyle
This 15-year-old Australian has fast become the darling of the snowboarding industry on an international level. She is extremely aggressive and is not afraid to go big. Last season marked her first winter competing both in the United States and in the women’s pro category. Winter X VII will be her first X Games appearance.
Barrett Christy
Vail, Colo. / Snowboard Slopestyle & SuperPipe
Barrett Christy is one of snowboarding's crown jewels. With 10 X Games and Winter X Games medals, Barrett is the most decorated snowboarder in the event's history. She took home bronze in Slopestyle and fourth in SuperPipe at Winter X Games VI. Barrett lives in Vail, Colo.
Kelly Clark
Mount Snow, Vt. / Snowboard SuperPipe & Slopestyle
Kelly is coming off a banner year after winning Winter X VI, the U.S. Open, and the Olympics – all in Pipe competitions. She has raised the bar with consistent amplitude and the biggest, cleanest McTwist in Women’s Snowboarding. Kelly is from Mount Snow, Vermont and currently resides in Mammoth, California.
Aleisha Cline
Whistler, BC, Canada / Skier X
This three-time Winter X Games champion will attempt to defend her Skier X gold at Winter X VII. Aleisha was voted Skier of the Year at the second annual Action Sports and Music Awards and also won Winter X Games VI’s best overall athlete title. She makes her home in Garibaldi Highlands, British Columbia.
Tara Dakides
Mammoth Lakes, Calif. / Snowboard Slopestyle
Tara owns women’s Slopestyle, with three Winter X gold medals under her belt. After an injury in February 2002 kept her off her board for nine months, she is back and is looking forward to competing in the Snowboard Slopestyle competition. Tara lives in Mammoth Lakes, California.
Magdalena Jonsson
Nora, Sweden / Skier X
This mother of two, Magdalena won silver in Skier X at both Winter X Games V and VI. Magdalena is one of the most consistent women on the Skier X circuit. She lives in Sweden and will be competing in the Skier X competition again this year.
Janna Meyen
Bend, Ore. / Snowboard Slopestyle
At 25, Janna is one of the early rulers of women’s snowboarding. She is renowned for her aggressiveness, especially on rails. Janna won silver in Women’s Slopestyle at Winter X Games VI, and will test her luck in that event again this year. She is from Big Bear Lake, California.
Ine Poetzl
Styria Graz, Austria / Snowboarder X
Ine will travel from Austria to Aspen to defend her Snowboarder X gold medal. Also an artist, she uses the proceeds from her paintings to help support her world-wide snowboard travel expenses.
Katie Shackelford
Park City, Utah / Skier X
This 22-year-old broke onto the skiercross scene with several dominating performances. At Winter X Games VI she finished in seventh place. In 2002, she heated up the slopes with wins at the Red Bull UltraCross and U.S. Open Skiercross. Katie is from Park City, Utah.
Patti Sherman-Kauff
Alta, Wyo. / Skier X
With a lifetime of competitive skiing experience, four-time Winter X competitor Patti Sherman-Kauff knows how to play her cards in Skier X. She won bronze in ’99, ’00, and ’02. She lives in Alta, Wyo. with her husband and their two children. Patti will once again compete for a podium spot in Skier X.
Hannah Teter
Belmont, Vt. / Snowboard Slopestyle
At only 16 years old, Hannah Teter placed second in Slopestyle at both the U.S. Open in Stratton, Vt. and the USASA National Championships in Mammoth, Calif. She is following in the footsteps of her two professional snowboarding brothers, Abe and Elijah. Hannah lives in Belmont, Vt. and will compete in Women’s Slopestyle. This will be her first Winter X Games appearance.
Nicola Thost
Munich, Germany / Snowboard SuperPipe
Nicola won the gold medal in Halfpipe at the 1998 Winter Olympics and has won several competitions since. She is one of the most talented pipe riders in the women’s field. Nicola has only competed in the Winter X Games once, in 1998, when she took home the bronze in Halfpipe. She will compete in SuperPipe at Winter X Games VII. Nicola is from Munich, Germany.
