Girls Learn to Ride Day at the X Games

The 10th annual ESPN X Games has designated Sunday, August 8 as "Girls Learn To Ride Day" at the X Fest Venue Outside of STAPLES Center in Downtown Los Angeles, California.

From ESPN: - X Games, the premier action sports competition, in conjunction with OP Girls Learn To Ride, presents Girls Learn To Ride Day at X Games X, a celebration of women in action sports. Girls Learn To Ride Day will take place at the X Fest venue outside STAPLES Center, Sunday, August 8. X Fest, part of the main X Games competition venue at the STAPLES Center, is an interactive action sports themed festival featuring more than 200,000 square feet of non-stop entertainment with live music, demos, an interactive skatepark and more for fans of X Games.

Top female X Games athletes are scheduled to participate in Girls Learn To Ride Day, which will feature several free demos and clinics designed to give females of all ages the basic skills and confidence necessary to participate in action sports. Activities include:

Athlete Autograph Sessions (All Day)
X Games athletes Fabiola da Silva (Aggressive In-Line Skate), Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins (Skateboard), Dallas Friday (Wakeboard) and others will be signing autographs throughout the day at the Women of Action Sports booth, located in the X Fest venue area.

Clinics Where Girls Can Learn to Ride
Girls ages 10 and older can learn to skateboard or ride a BMX bike from some of the top female pro riders at one of three one-hour free clinics. Equipment for all clinics, including safety helmets and pads, is provided free-of-charge and all girls in attendance will receive a free Girls Learn To Ride/X Games gift bag. All clinics are first come, first served. Space is limited.
  • Skateboard - 10:00 am and 11:00 am
  • Bike Stunt - 2:00 pm

    Demos - Stunt Bike, Inline Skating and Skateboarding
    The best female X Games athletes in the world from skateboard, aggressive in-line skate, and bike stunt will show their skills on the X Fest interactive street course.
  • 12:00 pm - BMX Girl Riders
  • 3:00 pm - Inline Skating and Skateboarding Girl Riders

    Women in Action Sports Booth
    Gates at STAPLES Center open at 10 a.m. on August 8. The Women of Action Sports booth will feature information on several organizations including Boarding For Breast Cancer, the Women's Motocross Association and World Cup Skateboarding. Each group will provide information about how women can become involved with their organizations.

    Music Performers at the X Games on Sunday
    In addition, G. Love, Juliette & The Licks and End of June are scheduled to perform on the music stage on Sunday.

    How to Buy X Games Tickets Online
    X Games tickets are available online through Ticketmaster and prices range from $5 for the outdoor X-Festival-only tickets to $5 to $15 for the stadium events at Staples Center and the Home Depot Center. Admission to the surfing event in Huntington Beach and the wakeboard event in Long Beach is free.
