History of Long Beach Marine Stadium
Historical Long Beach Marina Stadium was
built for the rowing competition at the
1932 Olympic Games. The stadium was officially
dedicated on July 23, 1932 with over 90,000
people in attendance.
Rowing Competitions at the Stadium
Marine Stadium was
also the home training site of the 1956 U.S.
Olympic Rowing Team, the 1968 Olympic Trials,
the 1976 National Women's Rowing Championships,
and the 1984 Olympic Women's Trials.
The stadium cam accommodate up to 1000-meter
rowing races with eight lanes.
Wakeboarding Competitions at the Stadium
In 2003 and 2004 the Long Beach Stadium was
venue for the Summer X Games Wakeboarding
competition.
Recreational Use of the Stadium
When not being used by rowers and other
competitors, Long Beach Marine Stadium is a
popular waterskiing facility. Amenities include
a sandy beach, restrooms, picnic areas,
boat launhc ramps, and parking.
