LOS ANGELES - ESPN X Games 11 ticket sales kicked off today with a
Moto X Freestyle demonstration and mini-race. The cheering section
was comprised of celebrities, professional athletes, local figures
and approximately 90 students from Los Angeles’ 10th Street Elementary School.
The event started with a Moto X Freestyle demonstration starring X Games
athletes: Kenny Bartram, Ronnie Renner and Myles Richmond. Brian Deegan,
10-time X Games medalist, was on the microphone with ESPN on-air host Sal
Masekela calling the tricks and hyping up the fans.
Next, the celebrities, athletes and students from 10th Street Elementary
School were divided into three groups representing each of the three X
Games Moto X SuperMoto racers (Steve Drew, Chris Filmore and Jeff Ward).
Each team cheered for their racer as he rounded the course five times
with Drew edging out Filmore and Ward at the end to win the mini-race.
In the winners circle, ESPN X Games General Manager Chris Stiepock
presented Team Drew with the first ticket to X Games 11 in front of the
cheering crowd of students. Drew, along with celebrity teammates Nate
Adams and Bartram handed out tickets to the winning team of students
to attend X Games 11, which will be held in and around Los Angeles,
August 4-7. In addition to the tickets, the 10th Street Elementary
School benefited with a $1,000 donation from ESPN on behalf of Team Drew.
During the race, Team Filmore came out strong with celebrities
Michael Rapaport and Renner leading the boisterous crowd of students.
Team Ward, led by celebrities Kaitlin Sandeno and Richmond,
chanted "Wardy, Wardy" as the legendary racer rounded the
mini-track, nearly propelling him to victory. In the end,
everyone left happy as each student, athlete and celebrity
were given X Games 11 posters and gift bags from West Coast Choppers.
"I’m honored to be here, helping these kids get tickets to
X Games," said Drew. "Hopefully, I will win at X Games
(Moto X SuperMoto) too and if I do, all these kids will get
invited to a party."
