Number of Riders Participating Top 16 athletes from Skier X Top 16 athletes from Snowboarder X ESPN Sport Description UltraCross features the top 16 skiers from the Skier X competition as well as the top 16 riders fromt he Snowboarder X competition in a race that is like no other. Teams of 16, consisting of one skier and one snowboarder, will be chosen through a lottery draw and will race against each other on the X Course in a relay format race with skiers going first and their snowboarding teammates following. The competition is a racing format with four quarterfinals, two semifinals, one consolation round, and a final. Each race consists of four teams. Teams are seeded based on combined seeding time recorded during each team members respective X competitions. The top two teams from each bracket advance to the next round. The fastest team in the final takes the gold.
